Tips on How to Take Care of Your Lingerie

You already have the most expansive maybe even the most expensive lingerie collection and now you are faced with how to take care of them. Very nice lingerie can sometimes be considered an investment especially if you are the type of woman who buys them branded. Taking care of them will guarantee that they will last longer than usual. The following are some tips on how to take care of your delicate lingerie.
The Label
All garments have care instruction labels sewn into the fabric. Usually located at the side seams, they tell you in specific terms how to wash the lingerie. Trust that every instruction in the label is accurate because the manufacturers understand their products more and know how to look after it. For example, if the label says dry clean only, do not machine wash or hand wash it.
The Missing Label
Should an accident occur and the label gets torn, one of the most basic things for you to remember is that most lingerie are hand washed in cold water by using a simple and gentle detergent making sure that it is rinsed completely. Washing your lingerie can also be done by placing them inside a wash bag. These little bags makes sure that they do not curl, get twisted and stretched during washing. At all times do not squeeze especially for the bras where squeezing the water out will misplace the underwires and give the bra a peculiar shape. Drying is done by drip drying or laying them on a flat tower. Never put your lingerie in the dryer although it is also possible to use a gentle steam to remove wrinkles.
Silk
The most comfortable lingerie material should always have the best care. Silk is very delicate and should be washed only with a mild soap or a silk wash. Never ever use detergent on silk even if the detergent says "gentle" on its label. You can also soak the lingerie in water for approximately five minutes and rinse gently without twisting or squeezing it. The water used for rinsing should be cold water with a teaspoon of vinegar to remove all traces of soap. In drying, roll the lingerie laying flat on top of a towel. You may iron while damp or simply attach it in a steamy bathroom for a few minutes in order to remove wrinkles. When your lingerie is made form silk, never ever expose it to direct sunlight or scrub a spot with water. Neither should you spray perfume or cologne on the silk material.
Storage
Wrap them carefully making sure that nothing else will stay on top of them. Negligees or camisoles and chemise should be hung otherwise they will lose shape.
Taking care of lingerie really does take a bit of your time and effort but these will prove to be useful and worthwhile in the long run. By giving them a little bit more care, they will be useful and will remain beautiful longer.
